L-Tido to perform for MTV drama

L-Tido, one of SA's successful rappers, will be writing and performing with Nigerian artists Banky W and WizKid and Bonie from P-Unit (Kenya).

This comes after the rapper was chosen to be part of the team who will produce the title track for the MTV drama, 'Shuga: Love, Sex, Money'.

Nigerian music video director Clarence Peters will be flown to Kenya in early February with Banky W, WizKid and L Tido to record the music video for the track.

Banky W and WizKid have also been featured as cameos in the TV drama alongside Nairobi-based Nigerian Ikubese Emmanuel (a.k.a. 9con) and Kenyan singer Avril.

'Shuga: Love, Sex, Money' focuses on issues surrounding HIV and Aids in the youth in Africa and is part of a multimedia campaign to spread the message about responsible sexual behaviour and tolerance.

The series was co-directed by Teboho Malatsi, best known for his work on 'Yizo Yizo' and 'Zone 14', and was filmed on location in Nairobi and Malindi during August and September 2011.

Apart from the L-Tido collaboration, the show's soundtrack boasts familiar names in the music world including Camp Mulla, Flavour, P-Square, Wyre, STL, Madtraxx, J Martins, Sasha, and Stella Mwangi.

The series' theme song will debut on MTV Base (DStv Channel 322) on Tuesday 14 February 2012. It will also be available for download free of charge on the Shuga website (www.shuga.tv).
