Gareth Cliff takes a swing on 'Idols'

Why is Gareth Cliff swinging from a bungee cord in the middle of the Moses Mabhida stadium?

"I can't tell you that - you'll have to watch 'Idols' to find out," the exhilarated 'Idols' judge said after his bungee swing. "But as always it's all Randall's fault, I can tell you that much."

The "Big Rush Big Swing" at Durban's Moses Mabhida stadium is the world's only stadium swing and the largest swing of any kind anywhere. Gareth gamely climbed up some 360 steps to the stadium's bungee platform and jumped from 106 meters above the pitch to swing out in a huge 220-meter arc under the stadium's iconic arch.

The 'Idols' judging panel - Gareth, Randall and new judge Unathi Msengana - are in Durban for the third round of auditions for 'Idols' season seven, along with special celebrity guest judge Kurt Darren.

After the Kingdom of the Zulu only the City Of Gold remains. Gauteng auditions will be held in Soweto at the Dobsonville stadium on Saturday 26 March, and in Johannesburg at Montecasino on Saturday 2 April.
