Josie Field goes back to '1984'

Singer-songwriter Josie Field is just about to release a band new album entitled '1984'.

In five short years, Field has come to occupy that space in the music scene reserved for artists whose radio and commercial success is almost accidental to the pursuit of their own artistic vision.

She released her second album Leyland in '2008' which gained multiple nominations including three nods at the 15th Annual MTN South African Music Awards in 2009 (one in the fiercely competitive and highly-coveted Best Female Artist category), and a nomination in the 2010 MK Awards for her video for 'Law of Attraction'.

Over two years and hundreds of performances later, Field returns with 13 original brand new tracks.

She has this to say about the songs: "The album is very diverse as I am influenced by more than just folk music. The public can expect to hear all sorts of genres coming through on the record such as country, soul, rock and jazz. That's the beauty of being a songwriter - you don't have to stick with one genre. I think I would go mad if I had to."

To celebrate the new release in her birthday month, Josie Field soon to be 27, will be performing songs off her album at the following exclusive venues around the country.
