Veliswa Skeyi

Veliswa Skeyi was born and raised in Zwelitsha in the Eastern Cape. 'Veg,' as she is affectionately known, was born into a musical family of 7 and starting singing from the tender age of 10. When she was only a teenager she joined a choir called Voices Unlimited.

She later joined another group called Indlalifa Zezulu. By this time Veliswa had already distinguished herself as an impeccably talented vocalist. It was, however, in 1996 that she got a taste of real stardom when she joined the nationally acclaimed choir Lord Comforters.

She became the lead singer and was also involved in the arrangement of hit songs that made the group a national brand. Yet even as part of the group her potential shone through. Her deep and powerful voice caught the attention of Bigboy Mlangeni, who was at the time the producer for Lord Comforters. He saw that Veliswa had grown and matured to a point where she was ready to pursue a solo career.

She has since earned herself a steady following, bearing testimony to the fact that she was indeed destined for great things
